Vinyl Window Replacement in Whitby

Royal Windows & Doors puts new windows in Whitby homes, all of them Canadian-made and each one made to measure for its opening. We've worked as a window installer in Whitby and across Durham Region for over 20 years, on everything from a single slider up to bay and bow windows.

Picking the window is one part of the job. How it goes in is the other, and that depends on the condition of the frame already in your wall, so every opening you're replacing gets measured in person before anything is ordered.

Which Vinyl Window Styles Can You Choose From?

Our vinyl windows come in casement and awning, double hung, tilt and lift out sliders, and fixed units, plus bay, bow and custom shapes for the openings that call for something a little different. Colours and grille patterns are yours to pick from as well.

The showroom in Whitby is a good first stop before you settle on anything. Every window we carry is Canadian-made and designed for the climate here, which counts for a lot on a window that goes through a Durham winter and a humid summer in the same year.

How Do You Pick a Style for Each Opening?

Start with how the window needs to open and what sits outside it, since each style handles airflow and clearance in its own way.

  • Casement windows crank outward on a side hinge and press against the frame when they close, which suits rooms where catching a breeze matters.
  • Awning windows hinge at the top, so they can stay open through a light rain. They tend to work as wider, shorter units, often paired with a fixed pane.
  • Sliders and double hung windows open without projecting past the wall, handy beside a deck or a walkway. Sliders come in tilt and lift out versions, and both designs let the sashes come inside for cleaning, a real convenience on a second storey.
  • Fixed units don't open, which keeps the frame slim and leaves no operating hardware to look after.
  • Bay and bow windows are the bigger projects, projecting out from the wall and combining several units in one opening.

Settling on a style for each opening is part of the consultation, and our team works through it with you.

Standard Installation or Full-Frame Replacement?

Both are part of what Royal Windows & Doors does, from a typical window installation to a larger full-frame replacement, and which one suits a given opening generally comes down to the frame already in it.

In the trade, a standard installation usually means an insert or retrofit, which sets the new window into the existing frame. Interior trim and the finish around the opening generally stay put, which keeps the work contained, and it's a sound choice when the old frame is solid and square.

A full-frame replacement takes the old window out down to the rough opening. With the frame gone, the installer can check the condition of the opening itself and insulate and seal the gap around the new unit before fresh trim goes on. It suits frames that have softened or shifted over the years.
